Tips To Quiet The Mind

Discovering Yoga Meditation

Quieting The MindIf you have recently  discovered the art of meditation as part of your yoga practice, chances are, like many, you find it difficult to clear your thoughts and quiet the mind.

A lot of people have shared their frustration on their inability to do this seemingly simple, effortless feat.

While the brain is one amazing creation, it is not designed to be the boss of you. All the thousand circuits and neural activity are created to support your bodily function.

The brain creates emotions such as love, hate, fear and pain. These emotions unwittingly play a major part in our lives and direct how we perceive and react to things, people and situations. The brain is also wired with one operating process, fight of flight, an important function that has helped humans and animals to survive, recognize danger and react accordingly.

Suffice it to say, your mind is the most powerful organ in your body. It directs all your output and supports all your most ardent dreams and desires — all the things that make up your life. So for people who want to live in the moment, celebrate their full potential, and take control of their lives.

Quieting the Mind

If you want to gain clarity, it is important that you learn to quiet the raging thoughts in your brain. Here are some tips to help you out:

Stop Stressing Over Meditation

Stop expecting too much from  your yoga meditation. A lot of people worry too much, including even in engaging in the act of meditation. It is important that you need to keep in mind that your brain and your mind are two different entities. Give yourself time to ease into meditation. As simple as it may seem, it is a journey. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to grow and gain better control of your thoughts and eventually better control of your life.

Be Aware Of Your Thoughts

Have you tried to listen to the thoughts going through your head? Through meditation, you will grow more aware of each thought. Acknowledge them without judgement but simply choose to silence the negative ones that tend to linger longer. Like a nagging  person inside your head, choose to silence it. This can be difficult to do at first and may require constant, deliberate effort since you are essentially breaking an old habit, but over time, you will be able to silence your thoughts at will.

Embrace Positivity

In life, it can be difficult to remain positive when we need to contend with so many things — the stresses, demands and challenges that comes with day to day living. It’s all right, you are all right. Despite the negative things that goes around you, acknowledge that you are all right. A problem is not the end of the world, and a negative comment does not necessarily define you. Choose to shift your perspective to the positive side of things and smile.
